@greglaurie is one of my favorite mentors and friends. Last night meant so much as he continued to pour into me. Our time together always leaves me edified. Hearing him talk buoys my hope: his heart for this next generation is a thing to behold. The mark he’s made on this world is astounding, and his gift as a communicator - his relaxed concentration, flawless cadence, conviction combined with charm, content creation, artistic sensibilities, disciplined restraint, humor, Bible insight, his uncanny ability to make mastery look easy, etc - marks him as one of the greats of our time. As a student, I love watching Greg do things as a speaker that are just brilliant and yet also nuanced and tastefully subtle - he’s an endless reservoir of wisdom for students who are interested in dissecting the craft of communication. I’m thankful to have him as a teacher. Make sure you hear him speak at Angels Stadium August 23-25 for this summer’s California harvest crusade! Check out the Hope Generation App for deets! #deltacovibes 📸 by @can_seco If you’re suffering an identity crisis because you have been abused, or labeled, or had your name dragged through the mud, this can not only make your psyche sick but your body too. Emotions and their biological components establish the vital link between the mind and the body. For instance, if you were sexually abused as a child or repeatedly abused by someone at the workplace, all the thoughts associated with those experiences will release NEGATIVE CHEMICALS. These chemicals travel through your body and can change the shape of the receptors on cells lining your heart, thereby increasing your susceptibility to cardiovascular illness. Save yourself a heart attack. Vent those deleterious emotions and get catharsis in the presence of God and affirming friends. Don’t let the cruel things others have done to you make you believe you’re as low as they’ve treated you. You are NOT damaged goods just because people made you feel like you are. They made fun of Jesus and mocked him while brutally murdering him, scourging him like a guilty convict, but that only made him MORE of a hero! When others abuse us, label us, or bully us, that makes us no less a child of God! #coolestnephewever 🤙🏻 Children have their head in the clouds, and are free of anxiety and depression because the joy of the Holy Ghost - which is the kingdom within them - gives them a profound sense of liberty, for where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. The carefree days of being a kid are upon us, we are FREE FREE FREE! Jesus said in Luke 4:18 he had come to free captives and liberate prisoners...but those are two different categories. Captives are INNOCENTS who may have fought heroically but were captured in war. Conversely prisoners are GUILTY of a crime and so are incarcerated for the safety of society. Jesus came to free BOTH! Maybe you’re guilty of a crime. He can bring you back to the age of innocence. Or maybe your colored history is on the opposite side of the spectrum and you did nothing wrong but were abused as a kid and grew up too fast...ah! but he who was anointed to free the captives can anoint you with pixie dust! Neverland bids us come! Who says we have to grow up? As G.K. Chesterton said: we have sinned and grown old but the Ancient of Days is younger than we! We refuse to be a grown up - which is another way of saying we refuse to let our hearts die.
